Brazilian midfielder Fred made it two in the 30th minute with a beautifully chipped ball into the net.

And three minutes later, Anthony Martial made a run with the balm through the right flank and dinked the ball over the goalkeeper to give the Red Devils a comfortable lead.

Facundo Pellistri made it four in the 76th minute after coming in as a substitute.

The win is such a morale booster to the Manchester United squad who were awful last season and a good start to new manager Erik ten Hag.

However, it is the opposite feeling for the opponent’s whose coach (Jurgen Klopp) said in a post match interview that the goals United scored were gifted to them by Liverpool.

The German tactician made one silly mistake in his squad selection for the match when he fielded his weaker side in the first half.
