Operating within the right half-space predominantly, Odegaard has given a creative presence between the lines, combining and interchanging with Hale End graduate Bukayo Saka, forming an excellent partnership.

Odegaard’s fitness is a concern and even if there was a slim chance he could start, risking him might be a worse decision.

Especially when you have quality like Emile Smith Rowe and Fabio Vieira available and there I’d start the former with the latter not needing his first start and debut in this game.

Oleksandr Zinchenko will again be absent having not returned to first-team training from a knee problem, while Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey are facing longer spells on the sidelines.

“[Aaron] Ramsdale and [Martin] Odegaard have been assessed and we will see more tomorrow,” Arteta told his pre-match press conference.
