Denis Popov is a 19-year old goalkeeper who currently playes for Valmeira.

On 19 June 2020, Popov (a 17-year old goalkeeper who plays for FC Rostov then) was named the man of the match despite the fact that his team lost by 10-1 to PFC Sochi in the Russian Premier League.

It all started when Rostov took the lead in the first minute of the match but later conceded 10 goals to Sochi.

Rostov were forced to play the match with their teenagers due to the fact that all the first team player were not available for the match as they were being quarantine after 6 of them have contracted Covid-19.

During the match, the young goalkeeper save a penalty and made a total 15 saves which earned him “Man of the Match” award.
