Acids in carbonated beverages, such as phosphoric and carbonic acids, can provide an acidic environment in the mouth, which can lead to tooth decay. The effect is substantially worsened when sugar is added.

Conclusion: If you want sweetened cold drinks to wash down your meals straight after a meal or whenever your body craves it, drink less carbonated drinks (also known as soft drinks) and instead choose chilled fruit juice.
