After putting several bids in for the Brazil international, Man United finally agreed to give the Dutch giants what they wanted, agreeing to pay a huge lump sum of £86 million.
Antony’s career with the Red Devils got offer to a flier. On his debut in front of the Old Trafford crowd against Arsenal, the tricky winger slotted the ball into the bottom corner past Aaron Ramsdale to open his account.
There were massive critics of United when the deal was completed due to the player’s price tag but only time will tell whether the club were correct to pay such an excessive fee.
Nevertheless, Manchester United are currently paying off Antony’s transfer in instalments, according to a new report from Jorge Nicola and 20 percent of that will go straight to Sau Paulo.
When Antony moved to Amsterdam, Sau Paulo added a 20 percent sell-on clause into the player’s contract. This equates to around £15 million of the £86 million agreed by Man United.
However, as reported by Nicola, Man United were meant to pay this portion to the Brazilian club by the end of September. With a couple of days left in the month, Sao Paulo are getting ‘itchy feet’.
The Brazilian side are in debt right now and so need to use the money to pay off outstanding credit. Sau Paulo’s president Julio Casares has demanded United to send the money by the October.
