Glory days are over and now United is in the Erik Ten Hag era. De Gea has so many questions to answer in ball-playing goalkeeping ability and coming out of his lines to stop a counter. Football over the years has changed from the traditional way of keepers only making saves.
This keeper has to be able to drive players towards him to build up the team attack from the back. This is Pep Guardiola’s football and also Erik Ten Hag’s system as well. How will De Gea fit into this structure is a big question? Clearly, in all the pre-season games, David is not giving the Manager what he wants yet.
To avoid a tactical failure next season, the club has to entrust the manager to replace David De Gea. His timidity to claim the high balls is not good enough for the team and United cannot afford to have a disastrous campaign next season because of a goalie.
