With two goals from Darwin Nunez, two from Cody Gakpo, one from Roberto Firmino, and two goals from Mohamed Salah, Liverpool recorded their largest win against United and matched the visitors’ worst defeat of all time, a 7-0 loss to Blackburn Rovers in 1926, Aston Villa in 1930, and Wolves in 1931.

Since January 2016, United has lost to Liverpool without a victory, and in their last seven visits to Anfield, they have only managed one goal. However, on this particular occasion, United’s performance saw them give up six goals in the second half.

United boss Ten Hag said the setback served as a wake-up call for the team barely a week after the club ended a six-year trophy drought by winning the Carabao Cup.

It was just not us in the second half, Ten Hag stated. “Our standards were not met. Our team didn’t play together. It lacked professionalism. Absolutely, I’m furious. Definitely.\s” I am astonished because this team has proven to be tenacious and competitive over the past few weeks and months.”

We had no winning mentality whatsoever in the second half. We didn’t follow the plan, and we didn’t perform our duties. It was quite unprofessional and we didn’t track back.” As we have previously demonstrated, we are resilient.

Brentford comes behind Manchester City. This is a serious setback that must be rectified. It has greatly disappointed and incensed me. It is a wake-up call. We must respond strongly to this.”

Roy Keane, a former United captain, also called his former squad “embarrassing” in his criticism.

Keane described the day as “shocked” to Sky Sports. “The veteran athletes were embarrassed. No leadership qualities were displayed by them.

Man United had a tremendously difficult day, and I’m grateful I’ve never taken part in a defeat like that.” As things became rough, the players would feel embarrassed if they disappeared.

United was never at their peak again, in my opinion. They have given other teams opportunities, but Liverpool didn’t let them off the hook today.”

The victory, which moved Liverpool closer to Spurs in the top four by three points, was described by manager Jurgen Klopp as “fantastic.”

“there are none. The football game was outstanding. Wonderful, “said Klopp. We outplayed a team that was in great shape.

The first half was a little chaotic, but the start and end of the second half were both really nice. Pretty much everything went well. We have three very significant points, and since that is football, anything is possible.

“We needed a push, and we got it. In the proper direction, that is. We must continue to exist and be known by everyone.

For a long, it wasn’t the case, but tonight was a proper demonstration of what we can be and what we must be moving forward. The day was ideal, but there are still 13 games and a lot of points to come.”
