The latest punishment was handed down by the Football Association in relation to their chaotic 3-1 FA Cup quarter-final win over Fulham last month.

Referee Chris Kavanagh showed three Fulham players and staff members red cards during the match, and Cottagers star Aleksandar Mitrovic was subsequently handed an eight-match ban for pushing the match official.

Manager Marco Silva also received a two-match touchline ban and a £20,000 fine for his behavior during the match and his comments in the post-match press conference.

This latest punishment adds to a growing list of fines for United this season, putting them ahead of their Premier League rivals Arsenal in the fine table.

While the exact total of fines is not known, it is clear that United have been hit hard for their behavior on and off the pitch.

As the season enters its final stretch, clubs will need to be extra careful to avoid costly fines and suspensions.

With every point counting in the race for the title and top-four spots, it’s essential that teams keep their focus on the game and avoid unnecessary distractions.

For United, the latest fine serves as a reminder that they must continue to improve their behavior and conduct themselves in a manner befitting a top-tier football club.

The fans will be hoping that the team can turn things around on the pitch and finish the season on a high note.

But United were not immune from punishment, and were slapped with a big fine by the FA for surrounding Kavanagh during the 71st minute of the match.

An FA statement read: “Manchester United FC has been fined £65,000 after its players surrounded a match official during the 71st minute of their tie against Fulham FC in the FA Cup on Sunday, March 19, 2023.

Man Utd set unwanted record

Manchester United have now been named the most-fined club in the Premier League this season, according to Manchester Evening News. They have been fined a total of £202,000, surpassing their fierce rivals Arsenal, whose tally amounts to £185,000.

Arsenal has also faced their fair share of controversy this season and was fined a whopping £145,000 in just one week back in February.

The first fine of £60,000 was imposed on them for ‘failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion’ during a match against Oxford, followed by another punishment of £65,000 for the same offence in the FA Cup tie against Manchester City.

The latter offense triggered a £20,000 punishment, which had been suspended as part of the Oxford fine, and was only to be imposed if Arsenal committed another rule breach.

Earlier in January, Arsenal was fined £40,000 for the same offence during their goalless draw against Newcastle in the Premier League.

Manchester United, on the other hand, has been fined on four occasions, including a total punishment of £82,000 for surrounding a match official during their matches against Newcastle and Chelsea.

As the season enters its crucial final stages, it is crucial for clubs to maintain their discipline on and off the pitch, with every point proving to be vital in the race for the top-four positions.

United and Arsenal must continue to improve their behavior and conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the values of the game.

The clubs’ fans will hope that their team can turn things around and avoid any further fines as they battle it out for the remaining games of the season.
