That one point is absolutely necessary for the city to maintain control of the game. Yes, they would have like to win, but they are aware that a victory on the last day would be sufficient regardless of Liverpool’s performance.
A defeat at the hands of West Ham would have given the competition new life. It’s still in the hands of the same people, so that aspect hasn’t really altered all that much.
It isn’t finished yet, but let’s be honest: these two sides are too excellent to make a mistake at this point in time. It will be extremely tough to see any changes occurring in the standings at the end of the match.
Both teams deserve a lot of respect for putting on a terrific display of football, but it’s a shame that the season is coming to an end because it’s going to seem like a very long time until August.
