The 2-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur was the best performance the Red Devils have put together in years and they followed that up with a resilient performance against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Although the game against Chelsea ended in a draw, the Red Devils were likelier to win and if the game had ended after Chelsea was awarded a penalty, the result would have been cruel to Erik ten Hag’s side

. However, a dramatic goal from Casemiro saw the Red Devils come out of the game with a point and go six games unbeaten in the process.

The nature of those two results rather than the results themselves are the major reason why the feel-good factor has returned to Manchester United and its fans.

In both games, the Red Devils had more possession. This is a significant shift from the wins against Liverpool and Arsenal earlier in the season. In those games, the Red Devils had to rely heavily on their fast counterattacks.

After the game against Chelsea, the next challenge for Erik ten Hag’s side is the six games they have to play before the FIFA World Cup tournament commences on November 18.

Their six-game run which begins against Sheriff Tiraspol on Thursday in the Europa League would end with a visit to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham.

On paper, those games look easy as the Red Devils have played against all the traditional ‘top-six’ teams. The game against Sheriff is a must-win for Manchester United if they are to continue piling the pressure on Real Sociedad, who are three points ahead of them in the group.

They would be playing three games in the English Premier League before the commencement of the World Cup. West Ham United would be visiting Old Trafford on the 30th of October while the next two games would be away matches against Aston Villa and Fulham. The Reds are expected to get at least seven points from those games.

The game against Real Sociedad could prove to be the most difficult for Manchester United as Erik ten Hag has continued to emphasize that his team needs to win the group. There would also be a Carabao Cup tie against Aston Villa on the 10th of November at Old Trafford.
