Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.....READ THE FULL ARTICLE>>>

Manchester United’s rise up the table following a slow start to the season has caught many by surprise. That said, the secret to their success is simple as it is all about Erik ten Hag’s insistence that his players meet and maintain his set high standards.

That forced many of their first-team players to sit up given he didn’t hesitate to drop those that are lagging in one way or the other. Consequently, this article discusses the players he had dropped at certain times this season to achieve the success he has so far.

1. Harry Maguire

The English center-back has been a key figure in the Manchester United defense over the last 4 years despite his obvious shortcomings as a defender.

A good fit for the England national team but not suited to the high-defense line tactic at Manchester United due to his lack of pace.

Ten Hag fixed that by dropping the England international to the bench, preferring at times to use left-back, Luke Shaw, in the center-back position despite knowing he will be blamed if it backfired. It took courage to do that and he has lots of it.

2. Marcus Rashford

The England winger is back to the starting eleven but he was dropped to the bench a few weeks back after he showed signs of indiscipline.

That was according to him, as he said after the match against the Wolves, in late December, that the Netherlands manager dropped him to the bench after he overslept and missed a team meeting.

The England winger was in form and scored in that game after coming on. However, there the Netherlands manager showed he would not hesitate to drop any of his players that failed to meet his set standards even if that player is one of his best players. That important lesson has helped the player remain focused.

3. Jadon Sancho

The England winger is another big-money signing the Netherlands manager dropped to improve his team’s performance. According to Erik ten Hag, the player is not fit, therefore, has been put on an individual programme that should improve his fitness by the time he completes it. Another courageous move made by the manager.
