Anger from United fans towards the Glazers has been exacerbated by the club’s shambolic start to the season, which has seen them lose to Brighton and Brentford, the latter a humiliating 4-0 defeat.

Against that backdrop, supporters’ group The 1958 have released plans to demonstrate ahead of Monday night’s game against Liverpool, the biggest game in the Premier League, between the country’s most successful clubs.

Fan protest saw United’s Premier League game against Liverpool postponed in May 2021, when more than 100 protestors stormed Old Trafford, causing the fixture to be called off.

Although organisers of the latest planned protests have called for them to be lawful, tensions will be running high at Old Trafford, with an increased police and security presence for the most high-profile game in English football.

Fans have been urged to meet at the Tollgate pub, near to Old Trafford, from 5.30pm, with protestors marching to Old Trafford at 7pm, congregating at the Holy Trinity Statue of George Best, Denis Law and Sir Bobby Charlton, on the stadium forecourt.

A statement released by The 1958 said: “Today we release our plans for the Liverpool game. A game that will have the eyes of the world watching.

A game for United fans to come together and show the world our deep discontent for this vile ownership. An ownership that is systematically starving and killing the greatest football institution in world football, for greed.
