The Englishman was down to the final 12 months on his deal, and while there had been confidence that the academy graduate would stay at the club beyond that deal, there were plenty of suitors for the star with Paris Saint Germain having already made their admiration clear on several occasions.
However, the Athletic report that a new deal in Manchester is now in ‘its final stages of negotiation’, which will see Rashford remain at the club until 2028, when he will be 30-years old. In doing so, they add that he turned down ‘more lucrative proposals from teams in England and Europe’ in order to remain with his boyhood club.
Rashford enjoyed his best ever season last time out, with Erik ten Hag’s arrival at Old Trafford seeing him moved back out to his favoured left-hand side, and the Englishman scoring 30 times in all competitions, as well as providing 11 assists.
He is a key part of the Red Devils side that clinched a top 4 spot last campaign, and a key voice in the dressing room alongside the more experienced players in the side.
The news continues Manchester United’s good start to the transfer window, with the club having already signed Mason Mount from Chelsea and now on the verge of adding Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana to their ranks in a deal worth £50m.
