The player in question is Brazilian central midfielder, Fred.

Despite garnering some hate from Manchester United fans, Fred has been a regular fixture in United’s team for several years.

The Brazilian made 35 Premier League appearances last season and 56 in all competitions. And as United look to have limited funds this window, moving on the 30-year-old may not be the wisest move as whilst not the best, he is a useful squad player and the Red Devils do not look to have the funds to bring in a decent replacement this window.

This seems to be a view the United higher-ups share at the moment as, according to Fabrizio Romano, Turkish side Galatasaray have approached Manchester United to sign Fred.

However, whilst the opening proposal has already been submitted, it was rejected by Man United as the transfer fee was below expectations.

No further detail is given on what the fee was or how much it would take for Man United to sell Fred this summer.

Should Fred leave, Mason Mount will likely be used in a deeper role next season.
