This season is arguably Cristiano Ronaldo’s worst season since he began his professional career. This is because the Portuguese legend is currently finding it difficult to score goals, his overall performance in matches has also been average.
Ronaldo’s poor form has been a bit surprising because he has been able to dominate the premier league, La Liga and also the Serie A. Another reason why his decline in form is surprising is because he had a great performance the previous season. Ronaldo’s poor form started at Manchester United due to lack of playtime.
Cristiano Ronaldo tried to force a move from Manchester United, however, the club and current manager, Erik Ten Hag insisted that Ronaldo had a huge role to play in the team. Erik Ten Hag also told fans that Ronaldo was part of his plans.
Surprisingly, Cristiano Ronaldo lost his starting position in the team, and became a bench warmer. Cristiano Ronaldo eventually lost his cool in Manchester United victory over Tottenham as he walked away out of the pitch before the end of the game, he also refused to come into the game as a substitute.
Ronaldo was eventually punished for this behavior, and on his return to the club, he starting getting enough playtime, but failed to convince Erik Ten Hag to permanently include him in his starting lineup.
Cristiano Ronaldo eventually opened up on his relationship with Erik Ten Hag as well as the club in his interview with Piers Morgan. After this interview, Manchester United terminated Ronaldo’s contract.
After his contract was terminated, a lot of fans wanted Ronaldo’s name to be removed as one of the club’s legends. However, Manchester United decision to wish Ronaldo on his birthday proves that he is still being regarded to be a legend.
