According to reports, the man and woman were living separately, with the estranged wife renting a house near the Munyaka Police Station where she had been living with her children.

The man is said to have tracked down the wife to the new location before attacking her and hacking her to death with a crude weapon.

After witnessing her mother’s gruesome murder, one of the children, a form two student, ran outside to seek help from neighbours.

However, the suspect caught up with her, hacking her from the back, killing her instantly. The man later took his own life by hanging himself.

Some of the residents revealed that the couple experienced marital wrangles constantly which contributed to the woman moving out.

This case adds to the rising number of fatal relationships which have become more rampant across the country in recent times.

Kenyans have condemned the gruesome murders which mostly occur in the marriage set-up. Additionally, those in violent relationships and marriages have been asked to seek counselling or leave on amicable terms to avoid such untimely deaths.

In the past month, about five women have lost their lives in the marriage set-up. For instance, on Saturday, March 9, a man from Elgeyo Marakwet was accused of stoning his wife to death over infidelity claims.

On February 25, another man from Muhoroni, Kisumu County killed his wife, son and two relatives. The man later fled the scene as police launched investigations.

In Juja, Kiambu County another man left the locals in shock after stabbing his wife to death on February 18. The man committed the act after a disagreement arose between the two.
