Nakalawa was a Senior Two student at St Mary’s Ssanje in Kakuuto.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 31 after Nakalawa reportedly left home without informing her father for Kakuuto town to ‘burn a CD’.

She returned home late at around 4am.

Enraged by her actions, Ssengooba allegedly beat her severely. Realising the severity of her condition, he had Nakalawa taken to Kakuuto Health Centre IV for medication.

Doctors at Kakuuto Health Centre IV were unable to stabilise her condition and referred her to Masaka Regional Referral Hospital.

Unfortunately, Nakalawa succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

Ssengooba fainted and was taken to Kakuuto Health Centre IV for treatment, where police later apprehended him.

The Kakuuto Sub-county chairperson Max Kyakuwadde suggested that Ssengooba might have used excessive force in disciplining his daughter.

He urged parents to manage their anger and avoid taking such drastic measures against their children.
