1.Godward Respect.
As Christians, we are expected to reverence God in dealing with Him and with our spouse. You can’t be submitting to God and yet be a torn in the flesh of your spouse. You can’t say, you submit to God and continue to live a sinful life. What you should know is that, the state of your spiritual life will reflect in your relationship with your spouse.
2.Mutual Respect.
“Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God” (Eph.5:21). Most men think it is the duty of their wives to respect them while they can treat their wives anyhow. Statistics shows that more than 70% of men are fond of constantly disrespecting their wives.
The fact that you are older does not give you the right to disrespect her. As soon as you marry her, she becomes your “MATE”. Hence you must treat her as you will treat any married woman outside. If you call her a goat, then you are a ‘he-goat’ because she is ‘MRS You’ and it takes goat to marry a goat, then you are ‘MR. GOAT’.
Mutual respect is a situation whereby couples respect each other “Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving HONOUR unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.” (1Pet. 3:7) .Men that doesn’t respect their wives are not real men.
Men that disregard their wives are destroying their own destinies. The woman you respect is the woman that will honour you.
The woman you KISS is the woman that will EMBRACE you. The woman you KICK is the woman that will EMBARRASS you. If you are a TIGER at home, you will make a TIGRESS out of your wife. If you are a friend you will make a lover out of your woman.
Do you want long life and peace of mind? Do you want to live peacefully; enjoy your life and have full support of your wife? Love her, support her and RESPECT HER.
3.Wifely Respect.
“Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she REVERENCE her husband”. (Ephesians 5:33). The third type of respect in marriage is wifely respect. Wives should know that they must respect their husbands in every way.
