Taarabt said about Nunez on talkSPORT, as transcribed by The Liverpool Echo: “I like the strikers that are selfish, they just want to score – I like this – (strikers) that finish.

“(Nunez) has that. If he doesn’t score he’s not happy but he will work so hard for the team – he’s fit, if you see his body he’s a real athlete. He is a machine, for me, now in Premier League, he will score for sure.”

The former Tottenham player added: “Last year when he arrived from Almeria no one knows him really but it was already a big fee, a lot of people were surprised.

“When we saw him in the first training (session) we understood he was going to be one of the best forward in the world, in my opinion.”

In our opinion, Adel Taarabt’s view on his Benfica teammate Darwin Nunez is very exciting for Liverpool fans.

The 22-year-old was superb for Benfica this past season, scoring goals for fun for the Portuguese giants.

The youngster scored 26 goals and gave four assists in 24 Portuguese league starts and scored six goals in six Champions League starts this past season.

Now, of course, we must consider that Nunez is still only 22 and is very young.

Liverpool fans should be patient with the striker, but they should have every reason to believe that he will be a star player for the Reds for years to come.
