As captain of Italy’s U20 side, the Ravenna-born talent led the Azzurri to an appearance in the finals against Uruguay before subsequently losing 1-0 thanks to a late strike from Liverpool Montevideo striker Luciano Rodríguez.
But Casadei’s talent was second to none across the duration of the campaign, with the Blues youngster scoring seven goals en route to winning the golden boot as well as being chosen as the best player of the tournament.
But his appearances in service of his country come in stark contrast to how his club career has panned out in England so far after his arrival in the English capital from Inter Milan last summer as part of Chelsea’s rampant spending spree.
Despite his failure to make a single appearance for the senior team, Casadei remains part of the club’s long-term plans according to football insider Fabrizio Romano, regardless of his likelihood of heading out on loan for the upcoming 2023-24 campaign.

Highly in demand this summer as a rental away from the Bridge, there were some concerns that Casadei could be moved on in the future after Chelsea continue to spend on the first-team under new boss Mauricio Pochettino, but according to reports, no buy option will be included in any loan agreement, signaling a possible future with the club beyond the upcoming season.
Casadei, who is reportedly happy at the club and its long-term vision on the pitch, at current, would face competition for places with record-signing Enzo Fernández and possibly Moisés Caicedo should Chelsea secure a deal with Brighton for the Ecuadorian international.
The Blues also harbor an interest in Belgian talent Roméo Lavia despite league rivals Arsenal already making headway in a possible move for the former Manchester City and RSC Anderlecht academy product, and should the club continue to spend in a manner similar to last summer, Casadei will have hs work cut out for him if he is to craft a pathway in the English top flight.
