Having won the FA Cup, the Reds will lock horns with the reigning Premier League champions in the annual season curtain-raiser. However, the game will take place at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium with Jurgen Klopp’s men denied a fourth visit of the calendar year to Wembley as a result.
Kicking off at 5pm, the game will take place on Saturday 30 July, with the switch of venue due to the Women’s Euro 2022 final being held at Wembley over the same weekend.
Held away from the home of English football for the first time since 2012 as a result, when Villa Park was the hosting stadium, ticket information will be announced in due course.
Liverpool have won the Community Shield 15 times in their history with their last victory coming when they beat Chelsea in 2006. Meanwhile, they have twice lost the final during Klopp’s reign as manager, against Arsenal in 2020 and Man City in 2019.
Leicester City are the reigning holders after beating Man City 1-0 in last year’s final.
