Arne Slot is into his first week as Liverpool’s official new head coach ahead of a busy summer at Anfield. The Dutchman will welcome his players back for pre-season in a month but there is plenty to sort before then.

Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold were key figures in the Jurgen Klopp regime but all three are out of contract in a year’s time. And sorting new deals for them must be a priority for Slot and new sporting director Richard Hughes.

Salah is likely to be the subject of fresh interest from Saudi Arabia while Alexander-Arnold was urged to join Real Madrid after its latest Champions League success.

There will be incomings this summer too with reports suggesting Liverpool has already made contact with Lyon in a bid to pip Tottenham and Newcastle to midfielder Rayan Cherki. The likes of Anthony Gordon and Alejandro Balde have also been mooted to be of interest.

A deal for Porto’s Alan Varela does seem unlikely at this stage though while Liverpool may have to act fast if it is to strike an agreement with Lille for teenage sensation Leny Yoro.

“Ah, I saw that [link to PSG], leave me alone!” Konate laughed on RMC’s Generation After podcast. “I’m French, hearing that PSG is interested, okay but that makes me neither hot or cold because I haven’t had a conversation with them or whoever.

“I’m focused on the pitch and the Euros. I don’t even think about it. I have two years left on my contract, I’m happy at Liverpool so my head is there.

“It’s a bit logical because I was born in France and in Paris. I have six older brothers and all six support PSG I think, at least four or five.

“We watched a lot of games together, they already brought me back to the stadium when I was younger before I went to the training centre.
