A look at the league table will show that Manchester Currently tops the league with 4 points. Liverpool follows suit with a match in hand against Southampton.
A win for Liverpool at will push the decision to the last game of the season. The point gap will be reduced to 1 & everyone’s attention will be on the last game of the season.
With that said, we would like to give reasons why Liverpool should forget about the EPL and concentrate on the UCL final against Real Madrid.
As we all know, Liverpool defeated Villarreal to book a spot in the final, Madrid also defeated Manchester City to do so. The UCL final will be played on the 28th of May in Paris.
Reasons:
1. Manchester City would not want to lose their only chance at a trophy:
The defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu made it clear that City’s only shot at a title was the EPL.
As such, Guardiola will not want that to slip off his hands. All they need is a win against Aston Villa and the title is theirs, not minding whatever result Liverpool gets.
2. Real Madrid have won their league and are resting their players:
Even before their semi final match against Man City (2nd leg), Real Madrid had already been crowned Champions of Spain.
This made their manager to be tactical in his choice of players. Ancelotti has been resting his players ever since and is planning to have a fully rested team in the finals.
3. Liverpool have sustained enough injuries already:
We all witnessed the FA Cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool. Liverpool has been involved in all the possible matches they were supposed to be in this season.
This is because they have reached the finals of all the other tournaments.
Because of this, Klopp has been using his full squad in all these competitions and have not been able to rest a few for big events like the UCL final.
He should look beyond the EPL and think more of the UCL if he wants to have a fair chance against Madrid.
