They remain two points behind defending champions Manchester City and level on points with Arsenal, who will face Aston Villa later on Sunday in their game in hand.

Liverpool were once again hugely wasteful in front of goal, having also failed to find the net in their 3-0 defeat to Atalanta in the Europa League on Thursday.

Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah all missed big chances, while second-half substitutes Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota also went close without managing to score.

Sky Sports commentator and pundit Jamie Carragher was particularly critical of Salah, who has struggled to find his best form since returning from a hamstring injury.

“Not at the races Mo Salah, he’s been like that for a few weeks now,” Carragher said on commentary.

Liverpool rejected a £150m offer from the Saudi Pro League for Salah in January, with Al Ittihad still reportedly interested in the 31-year-old.

And a number Liverpool fans believe the club should look to sell the winger when the transfer window opens this summer.

“Sell Salah to Saudis ASAP,” posted one angry fan on X.

Another added: “Time to sell Salah.”

A third wrote: “Having useless players at the end of the season, sell Salah, bench Diaz and play Gapko.”

While another simply put: “Hope Salah is getting sold in the summer. He’s so finished.”

Despite his struggles in recent weeks, Salah has still been one of Liverpool’s most consistent performers this season.

He has scored 23 times in 36 games across all competitions and is third on the club’s all-time top scorers list with 209 goals.

However, Liverpool are likely to consider selling the winger this summer if they receive an offer in the same region as they received in January.
