In the years since, though, his stock has plummeted, and he has become just another face in a galaxy of stars.

Isco’s playing time began to dwindle around 2017 (at least from the start of games), and every summer it was anticipated that the previous season would be his final at Real Madrid.

But that never came to pass. Isco seemed to linger indefinitely, like an old toy that was occasionally played with before being put back in the box and forgotten about for months.

Isco only appeared in 14 La Liga games this season, and he did not make a single appearance in Real Madrid’s triumphant Champions League campaign.

Only two of Isco’s league outings came from the start, and the club’s decision not to extend his contract has been in the works for months.

Madrid is in the midst of a reorganization. Gareth Bale and Marcelo are among those who have moved on.

Despite his lack of playing time over the last three or four years, Isco will find plenty of suitors, and given that he’s only 30, and isn’t reliant on his pace, he can still perform at a high level.
