Although United who started the match with a 4-2-3-1 formation tried as much as they can control the game in the first half, however, suffered a disgraceful capitulation during the second half.

Consequently, United’s chances of winning the Premier League title this season have dimmed a little, while Liverpool just got a big shot in the arm as par making the Top 4.

Considering their past recent form, this should have been one match United should have at least snatched a point. However, I think coach Erik ten Hag should be blamed for making costly tactical mistakes that led to the heavy defeat of his team.

Firstly, Ten Hag got it all wrong by starting Bruno Fernandez on the left side of the midfield instead of his natural number 10 position. We all know that Bruno lacks the pace to play in such position.

Secondly, Ten Hag failed by whatever reason to exploit the right side of the Liverpool defence which is one of their weakest links this season.

One would have expected the United manager to deplore Marcus Rashford in that wing instead of the top striking position that he couldn’t function in.

Also, starting Diogo Dalot at the defence was a big minus to the United team.

This humiliating defeat might render a big dent in United ambition of winning the title this season. However, in football, it is not over until it is over!
