Goals from Trent Alexander Arnold, Mohamed Salah, and new boy Darwin Nunez helped Jurgen Klopp’s side secure a 3-1 victory over City as they claimed their first laurel of the season.
However, it is Erling Haaland’s performance on the day that has got everyone talking. The Norwegian who was signed from Borussia Dortmund this summer gave an underwhelming debut performance.
Haaland recorded just 16 touches in the match. He also missed some clear-cut chances which could have given his team a goal. However, the Norway star has been backed by his manager despite the awful performance.
Speaking after the gabe, Pep Guardiola acknowledge that Haaland might not have scored, but he has the quality and will soon find rhythm in his new surroundings.
