Well, fans have been talking about Haaland’s performance, how the absence of Gabriel Jesus and Sterling would be felt, Arnold’s display, and the impact of Manchester City’s young substitutes, but this article will focus on how Liverpool’s New Signing Darwin Nunez didn’t let his critics affect him.
1. He Gave Everything On The Field Against Manchester City.
The Uruguayan striker was signed for €75m that could reach €100m with add-ons, but he has been criticized heavily by fans because of some of his performances. Despite scoring 4 goals against Leipzig in a Pre-season, many fans are still doubtful that the young striker could fill Sadio Mane’s shoes.
However, he was the hero of the day against Manchester City in the community shield. Note that when he was introduced into the game, he missed a big chance during the game moments before Manchester City equalized, but the versatile striker didn’t let the miss affect him.
Well, it was his header that led to a penalty for Liverpool in the 83rd minute before he finally sealed the win with a stoppage-time header. Hence, Darwin Nunez’s performance suggests the new signing is working hard and not listening to his critics.
