Before entering politics, the outspoken politician started his career as a district officer (D) before rising to become retired president Uhuru Kenyatta’s personal assistant (PA) and Mathira Member of Parliament (MP).

“I worked in the Ministry of Lands, got KSh 64 million. I got KSh 10 million from Kenya Power, KSh 33 million during my time in the Ministry of Livestock, and another KSh 46 million I worked in an organisation called Batek…I am worth KSh 800 million,” he disclosed.

The Treetops Hotel, famed for witnessing Queen Elizabeth’s ascension to the throne 72 years ago, is a significant relic of the Mau Mau movement in Nyeri. Keith explained that the establishment holds a significant part of Kenya’s history, including its liberation struggle, that has remained untold.

“For instance, very few people know that beneath the hotel lie underground tunnels constructed by the Mau Mau fighters for accessing the facility,” he expounded. Located roughly 10 kilometres from the hotel, within the Aberdare Forest, is a fig tree that served as a post office for the Mau Mau movement. Gachagua (Riggy G) said the decision to buy the historic hotel stemmed from a challenge he shared with the local business people.

2. Outspan Hotel Eric Sherbrooke Walker founded Outsoan Hotel in the 1920s in Nyeri. Situated atop a river canyon in the Aberdare Range, the hotel was constructed on around 69 acres of land that Walker acquired in 1928.

It is famous for being home to the Paxtu cottage, a scouting museum used as Baden-Powell’s commissioned residence in the late 1930s. Gachagua confirmed acquiring the hotel on April 4, 2022, at the Nyeri National Polytechnic’s fourth graduation ceremony.

3. Olive Gardens Hotel Who Owns Kenya reported that Olive Gardens Hotel is another facility owned by Gachagua’s family. Olive Gardens Hotel in Nairobi is a three-star hotel roughly 3.8 km from the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

The hotel has 60 rooms with complimentary Wi-Fi, private bathrooms, and flat-screen TVs. It features a restaurant providing African food, a garden, and a free private parking area.

4. Vipingo Beach Resort Kilifi, Kenya’s breathtaking shoreline, hosts the opulent Vipingo Beach Resort, which is 20 kilometres away from Watamu National Marine Park. It features a restaurant, a garden, a patio, and complimentary private parking.
