Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Mane needs to be more careful when discussing his future.
As quoted by Sky Sports earlier this week (6 June), the 30-year-old admitted he was in trouble with Liverpool’s fans after he claimed he will let the Senegalese people decide his future.
He also joked he would prefer a move to Marseille as he is a boyhood fan of the French team.
Mane is in the final year of his Anfield contract and wants to leave the club this summer with Bayern Munich interested in his signature.
Sky Sports reported on Wednesday (8 June) that the Reds have rejected a second bid from Bayern worth up to £30million.
“I’d be very careful if I was Mane to not lose his Liverpool legacy,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“For me, he’s a Liverpool legend and he doesn’t want to say the wrong thing and lose the respect of the Liverpool fans.
“He says he wants to leave and he can still be respectful to Liverpool.
“They bought you for you a big amount of money from Southampton and given you a platform to prove you’re a top, top player. I don’t think there’s any need to say the things that he’s said.
