Liverpool performance this season has been very poor. This poor performance can be linked to the number of injuries in the team, as well as the absence of Sadio Mane. Liverpool sold Mane last season to Bayern Munich, and ever since then, the team’s performance deteriorated.
However, after Sadio Mane was sold to Bayern Munich, Liverpool immediately bought Darwin Nunez. Nunez impressive performance in the previous season made Klopp buy the striker.
However, the player has faced a lot of criticism ever since he joined the team. Liverpool bought Nunez for almost £85 Million, and he has failed to live up to expectations.
Manchester United bought Harry Maguire for a record breaking fee, however, Maguire flopped in the team. Manchester United refused to take Maguire out of the squad despite his poor performance and this affected them badly.
It is obvious that Darwin Nunez is no longer a regular starter in Liverpool’s squad. Klopp now introduces the striker late in the second half. However, Klopp cannot be blamed for benching Nunez.
Klopp is gradually avoiding the mistake Man United made with Maguire by benching Nunez despite the money spent in signing him.
