Addressing the congregation at Kapserton SDA Church in Mosop Constituency, Nandi County on Saturday, Mr. Gachagua asserted that the Ruto Administration is working on tougher measures that will be collectively enforced by relevant government agencies starting next week.
During his visit, the Deputy President also oversaw a fundraiser at Kurgung Boys High School in the Constituency, where he stated, “I convened a meeting this week with top Government officials and senior security officers, and we have agreed on these measures, which will be rolled out from next week.”
He emphasized that these measures would be extensive and assured that the government is committed to eradicating the menace of illicit alcoholic drinks soon.
“We are determined to safeguard our country from these deadly drinks. We will ensure that the manufacturers of these beverages are permanently removed from our nation. We cannot allow Kenyans to be sold poison disguised as alcoholic beverages,” the DP asserted.
Next Monday, the Deputy President will host an Alcohol and Drug Abuse Conference in Mombasa to escalate the fight against this menace in the coastal region. Similar meetings have already been conducted in Nyeri, Chuka, and Nakuru.
Highlighting the progress of Coffee Reforms, the DP noted that farmers are already reaping significant benefits. He assured continued focus and determination in streamlining the subsector for increased benefits to the farmers.
“Last week, for the first time in 10 years, 50kgs of coffee from one factory was bought at 600 US dollars. We will continue to strengthen this sector for higher earnings,” he pledged.
The Deputy President was accompanied by several high-ranking officials, including the Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, Basic Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang, Governors Stephen Sang (Nandi), Wisley Rotich (Elgeyo-Marakwet), Jonathan Bii (Uasin Gishu), National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwah, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei, Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago, host MP Abraham Kirwa, Nandi County MP Cynthia Muge, and a host of other leaders.
Mr. Koskei commended the President and Deputy President for establishing a solid foundation for government program implementation. “This is a stable, well-grounded government.
The programs have gained momentum after a challenging first year due to resource constraints. We must double last year’s achievements this year. We will work diligently to fulfill the promises to the people because this government is as truthful as you are,” he stated.
Other leaders present expressed gratitude to the Deputy President for prioritizing project implementation over detractors’ criticism.
“Numerous projects are underway in Nandi, including roads and other infrastructure projects. We believe these will be completed soon for the benefit of our people,” remarked Emgwen MP Josses Lelmengit.
