The club however agreed to pay a fine of more than 700,000 euros ($751,000) for lying about players skipping pay during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The plea agreement, which Juventus had requested, ends a slew of proceedings involving the Turin club in Italy’s sporting courts.

After revoking the club’s first 15-point penalty for engaging in illegal transfer activity, they received a 10-point deduction in Serie A last week.

As part of the agreement reached on Tuesday, Juventus agreed not to appeal that punishment.

The problematic club was penalized 718,240 euros by the Italian federation’s disciplinary tribunal, according to a ruling that was released.

Seven members of the team’s management were also given fine orders ranging from 47,000 to 10,000 euros.

However, the former chairman Andrea Agnelli is not included in the plea deal.

He and the prosecution jointly asked for his hearing to be postponed to June 15 in light of what the tribunal called “advanced talks” on possible sanctions.

The federation was entrusted with looking into the club and its key figures’ postponed payment of some players’ salary as part of a massive scandal involving fake accounting and transfer gimmickry that has rocked Italian football.

With one game remaining in the season, Juventus is seventh in Serie A.

They will be eligible for the Europa Conference League the next season if they maintain that standing on the final day, but they still have a chance to go as high as fifth and earn a spot in the Europa League.

Twelve current and former key club members, including former chairman Agnelli, are facing separate criminal investigations in the matter, and they could all go on trial.

The Turin club publicly declared that players were forgoing wage payments during the pandemic in 2020, but privately assured those players they would only lose out on a percentage of what was announced.

This is the subject of the plea agreement reached on Tuesday.

Due to the cancellation of games and the subsequent decline in revenue during the pandemic, Juve was able to artificially lower losses in the club’s annual balance sheets by doing this.
