Cote d’Ivoire on the other hand, were on 3 points, hoping to get a victory this evening to become the first team to qualify for the next round of the tournament.

The game started with Cote d’Ivoire dominating possession, but Nigeria were quick to hit on fast, devastating counter attack each time their opponents turned over possession. Osimhen missed a big chance to put Nigeria ahead in the first half and aside from that, both sides struggled to create clear cut chances.

In the second half, Osimhen who has been terrorising Cote d’Ivoire defenders did brilliantly to win a penalty for Nigeria. It was a clumsy tackle from Diomande and Troost Ekong stepped up to put his side ahead in the game.

Nigeria managed to hold on to the lead, despite Cote d’Ivoire pushing to equalise up until the last minute of the came. With this win, Nigeria overtook Cote d’Ivoire on the table, jumping into 2nd.
