Thomas Partey has been called up for Ghana’s friendlies in this month’s international break despite missing Arsenal’s last three games through injury....CONTINUE READING THE FULL ARTICLE>>>

After sustaining a second thigh injury, the 29-year-old hasn’t featured for the Gunners since the 3-0 victory at Bournemouth more than a fortnight ago.

The former Atletico Madrid midfielder won’t be back for a while, according to Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, who expressed no optimism last week.

But that hasn’t stopped Ghana from selecting him for a 29-man squad to play Brazil and Nicaragua in friendly matches on September 23 and 27, respectively.

The defenders Tariq Lamptey, Mohammed Salisu, and Daniel Amartey of Brighton, Southampton, and Leicester, as well as Jordan Ayew of Crystal Palace, have all been called up to play for the Black Stars.

Since his initial call-up in 2016, Partey has made 40 appearances for Ghana and is anticipated to be a key player for them at the World Cup in Qatar this winter.

A week before their debut World Cup Group H match against Portugal on November 24, Otto Addo’s team will also play Switzerland in a friendly. They are in the same group as South Korea and Ghana.

However, Partey’s primary concern right now is getting better after suffering his fifth injury since moving to Arsenal for £45 million from Atletico Madrid in October 2020.

With his replacement Mohamed Elneny suffering a long-term injury in the win over Fulham, the Gunners are also eager for him to come back.

On deadline day, the Gunners sought and failed to recruit Douglas Luiz, leaving only Albert Sambi Lokonga and Granit Xhaka, who began the most recent victories over Aston Villa and Manchester United, as possibilities for central midfield.

Arteta stated last week that “[Partey is] going to be away for a bit, but we don’t know how long that period is going to be.”

It is clear that the injury is not the only one he has had in that location; therefore, the doctors should set a timeframe and monitor the patient’s progress.

“We have made an effort to handle him; clearly, a lot has happened since he entered.”

Unfortunately, the body and the mind are too complex to understand and pin down a single thing to prevent something from happening, despite our best efforts to determine why something occurred.

The player’s attitude and willingness to work are present.

We need him back because, as you can guess, he is really disappointed.

However, according to The Evening Standard, Partey is hoping to make a comeback for Arsenal before the break for international play. According to the report, he has a remote chance of being selected for the team that plays Everton on Sunday.

But because of his history of injuries at Emirates Stadium and the Gunners’ desire for him to stay healthy, he won’t be brought back right away, despite reports that he hopes to participate in some group training this week.

Prior to the international break, Arsenal also has matches in the Europa League against Zurich and PSV as well as a trip to Brentford.
