He emphasised that a public statement about the Labour Party’s lawful candidate has to be made by the INEC Chairman. They’ve already brought this issue to court, Achonu noted, and the decision recognised him as the party’s nominee.
Achonu voiced his displeasure with the media’s handling of the matter during an interview with Channels Television, citing in particular the material being spread without adequate verification.
Additionally, he placed some of the blame on INEC, arguing that the electoral authority ought to have done anything about the protracted dispute over the Labour Party’s choice of candidate.
