The President said that he vowed to end extrajudicial killings in the country when he assumed office.
Speaking on Sunday in Mombasa, the President said if there are cases reported, he will deal with them.
“I gave my undertakings to the country that there will be no disappearance of Kenyans. There will be no Kenyans in River Yala, there will be no Kenyans in Tana River,” the President said.
“There was a time we had over 30 bodies of Kenyans in rivers, that will never happen under my watch. If there is any Kenyan who has disappeared, I want people to step forward and say so and so has disappeared, I will be very happy to dealt with it.”
The President affirmed that there will be no cases of disappearance in his government.
“Under my administration, there will be no disappearance of Kenyans again, there will be no extrajudicial killings of Kenyans. I have said that with clarity,” he added.
Ruto added that going forward, Kenyans must be truthful saying he will call out institutions propagating false information.
According to Ruto, 42 Kenyans died during the anti-Finance Bill protests.
Human rights agencies put the number at 50 and above.
Ruto said it was unfortunate for Kenyans to die during the protests.
“They should not have died, some of them in situations where the police are involved and others in situations where criminals were involved. All those situations are under investigations,” Ruto said.
He said the government will support families who lost their loved ones during the protests.
