What causes bumps mostly on a man’s head after a haircut?
Lumpy skin may appear after a haircut. It’s possible that the real reason for this varies. Allergies can also cause an inflamed or swollen skin rash.
Consult your physician if any of the following explanations for bumps on one head after a haircut seem to be true for you.
1. razor burn
According to healthline. In order to eliminate bumps on their heads, most people prefer to have their hair cut with clippers or scissors rather than a razor. As the name suggests, razor burn is a red rash that is irritated and has many small red bumps all over the body.
When you have a razor burn, you get a burning sensation that goes away when the inflammation in your skin goes down. Razor burn can be caused by waxing the face and body, as well as by cutting hair with dirty or dull razors.
2. Tinea barbae (barber’s itch).
It’s not uncommon for people to confuse barber’s itch with razor burn. Hair shaving near the neck or face might result in the development of an infection known as tinea pedis.
Barber’s itch is characterized by large red pimples which might or might not be itchy. Acne pustules or crusting are typical side effects of pimples.
3. Folliculitis (barber’s rash).
Folliculitis is an irritation of the hair follicles, and it can result in red, uncomfortable, or pus-filled lumps after a haircut if it is present. It is most commonly caused by Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, also known as barber’s rash.
Although these bumps aren’t technically ingrown hairs, it’s possible that the hair follicles within them can still grow through the skin.
It is possible to get pimples on the forehead after shaving, which is known as pseudofolliculitis barbae (also called razor bumps).
4. Acne.
Following a healing process, acne barber’s rash lumps can become scarred and hardened. The medical term for this ailment is eczema keloidalis nuchae. Further darkening and expansion may occur in the long run if these lumps bleed after a haircut.
Inflammatory acne patches may also be revealed by a haircut, which you may not have seen before. Pustules or nodules, which are red and filled with pus, may also be painful to the touch.
5. Eczema due to seborrheic dermatitis
People with eczema should know that seborrheic dermatitis, which can cause rashes on the scalp after a haircut, could be the cause of any new rashes on the scalp (eczema of the scalp).
There is no pus in these lumps, although they may scab over. There are flakes of white, yellow, or red that develop on the patches.
Seborrheic dermatitis may be exacerbated by getting a haircut because of the instruments and chemicals used on the already-irritated skin. Scratching your scalp and causing the rashes to bleed can also put you at risk of infection.
