The Denmark international took to his Instagram page to pen a farewell letter to the fans, his colleagues and the staff of Chelsea Football Club.
The 26-years-old centre-back is one of many players who will be leaving Stamford Bridge this summer after failing to sign a new contract with the Blues.
Christensen’s exit had been confirmed by coach Thomas Tuchel weeks ago, but the player himself has only just confirmed his exit.
Taking to his Instagram, Christensen posted a picture of him kissing the UEFA Champions League with the inscription “THANK YOU CHELSEA”. He recounted his days at the club from the Chelsea Academy to the first team.
According to him, winning the Champions League in 2021 was his proudest achievement as a player.
A good chunk of his colleagues at Chelsea have reacted to his post. The likes of Kai Havertz, Reece James, Mason Mount and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga have all wished Christensen well as he takes a new step in his career.
According to reports, the Danish defender will be linking up with Xavi in Barcelona. He has been heavily linked with a move to the Catalan club.
