However, recent reports reveals that Chelsea have distanced themselves from this deal as they are currently eying Leicester City middle block Wesley Fofona, a deal that should be completed before next Thursday 11 pm.
Amid the rumours the skipper was being linked with a move to the West London club, Hurry Maguire was dropped from Erik ten Hag’s squad that faced Liverpool on Monday night, something that fueled the speculation.
Despite warning the bench for entire 90 minutes against Liverpool, report by Manchester Evening News reveals that Maguire is adamant that he wants to stay at Manchester United going forward.
The English appreciates the respect Erik ten Hag has shown him by allowing him to have the leadership role at the club.
It must not be forgotten that Maguire who has made 102 appearances for The Red Devils since joining the club three years ago from Leicester City was handed the captaincy role by Ole Gunner Solsjaer and went ahead to serve in the same capacity under the interim spells of Michael Carrick and Ralf Rangnick.
Next 2 months will be vital for Maguire to fight back to Erik ten Hag’s starting lineup if at all he wants to retain his place in the international team ahead of World Cup that begins in November this year.
The Englishman, however, is likely to face stiff competition from Axel Tuanzebe and Victor Linderlof who are yet to return from their injuries.
