Chelsea fell to another frustrating defeat against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 on Wednesday, no thanks to Karim Adeyemi’s solo effort in the second half.
While Graham Potter’s general performance and results recently have been lacklustre and reproachable, the lost that Chelsea suffered against Borussia Dortmund wasn’t on him.
The England International fielded the best Players that he could selected for the clash against Borussia Dortmund. The likes of Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher who have been abysmal recently were both dropped from the starting lineup.
Marc Cucurella was also taken out of the starting lineup against Borussia Dortmund while Ben Chilwell came in for him, alongside Reece James in the Right-back. It was the first time that the duo of Reece James and Ben Chilwell was starting a game together For Chelsea in over 4 months.
Kai Havertz, Joao Felix, Enzo Fernandez and Mykhaylo Mudryk all started too but, Chelsea still lost to Borussia Dortmund.
The truth is, the game should have easily been a 3-0 result in favor of Chelsea because Enzo Fernandez and Joao Felix had some numerous chances that could have put Chelsea in the lead or help Chelsea to settle the game long before Karim Adeyemi’s solo goal even came about but, the players were wasteful and they got punished for it.
