Angry Natembeya, today Tuesday April 23, told doctors’ union to stop holding medics at ransom when patients are dying across the country.

“I am now going to be a bad man. We are stopping their salaries soon and I will be in Uganda next month to import medics and be sure East Africa Protocol allows such cross border exercise,” said Natembeya.

The governor expressed his dissatisfaction with the ongoing medical doctors strike that has hit its second month now.

Doctors started their strike in mid-March mainly because of salary arrears, the government’s failure to hire trainee doctors(interns), a drop in pay for trainee doctors, and lack of comprehensive health insurance cover for themselves and their dependents.

The medics argued that their latest Collective Bargaining Agreement CBA had been ignored by theKenya KwanzaGovernment and until it is respected is when they will go back to their respective work stations.

Today Tuesday, Governor Natembeya inspected the progress of the County Assembly’s state-of-the-art facilities. These include the Official Speaker’s residence, Assembly Center and ongoing construction of ward offices. Pushing for a speedy completion to ensure are operational.
