Barça’s French attacker has played a major role in the second half of the season, and he is now fulfilling the promise that led the Spanish club spend so much money on him so many years prior. Barcelona’s 25-year-old midfielder has appeared in 32 games this season, making two starts and generating 15 assists.

Dembele’s contract with Barcelona expires this summer, and he has yet to sign a new deal with Real Madrid. Paris St. Germain and Chelsea were both rumored to be interested in acquiring Barca’s highly-rated winger.

Thomas Tuchel may already know how to get the best out of Ousmane Dembele and how to integrate him into his club for the upcoming season, having worked with him at Borussia Dortmund. With his versatility, the 25-year-old winger can play on either wing or even at wing back if necessary.

While a forward isn’t a priority for the Blues, Dembele on a free is nearly impossible to turn down. Additionally, Chelsea will be able to get a replacement for one of their current forwards at no cost by signing the player.

Injuries have been an issue for Dembele for the previous six to seven months, but he appears to be getting over it now, as evidenced by his recent performances. This is a risk worth taking because of the quality of the products he can generate when healthy.

Even at a high price, Dembele’s quality makes him a bargain. The Blues should seize the opportunity to get him at no cost and do so immediately. With Paris Saint-Germain no longer interested in signing the former Rennes player, Chelsea should go all out for the Barcelona star.
