Manchester United owners the Glazers won’t be signing Kylian Mbappe or Neymar while they remain in power, it has been claimed. The family announced back in November they were open to selling the club....CONTINUE READING THE FULL ARTICLE>>>

Fast-forward to now, however, and it’s still unclear what will happen despite suggestions Sheikh Jassim is leading the race.

Manchester United have been linked with both Neymar and Mbappe this summer as they look to reel in Manchester City next season.

But Fabrizio Romano, speaking to GiveMeSport, has claimed the Glazers won’t be sanctioning deals for either of the pair.

“What we can say is that, with the Glazers, this is absolutely not a topic,” he said.

“For sure, they are not working on that or Neymar because we know the Glazers are going in a different direction.”

United would only be in a remote position to sign the duo if a takeover goes through.

Sheikh Jassim has, according to widespread reports, interest in splashing the cash on a marquee name this summer.

Right now, however, United are pursuing deals for other players instead.

They’re set to continue talks with Chelsea over a transfer for Mason Mount, with the 24-year-old willing to leave Stamford Bridge for Old Trafford.

And United aren’t giving up on Harry Kane and apparently want the Tottenham star to push for a move this summer.

As for Mbappe and Neymar, their futures at Paris Saint-Germain remain up in the air.

The Ligue 1 giants have already lost Lionel Messi, with the Argentina international off to play for David Beckham’s Inter Milan.

Mbappe only signed a new PSG contract 12 months ago.

However, he’s already told the club he won’t be extending his contract – meaning he could be sold this summer to avoid losing him for free.

Real Madrid are the frontrunners to sign Mbappe, with Florentino Perez a known admirer of the forward.

And Los Blancos’ need for a new striker is evident following the departure of club icon Karim Benzema.

As for Neymar, PSG are open to jettisoning the Brazil international after six injury-plagued years in France.

Yet while Newcastle have been linked, as well as United, it’s unclear what will happen.

Meanwhile, speaking recently, club legend Gary Neville was asked about the Glazers.

And he insisted he didn’t have a takeover preference, claiming he would just be happy to see the back of the family following 18 controversial years of rule.

“I don’t mind, I genuinely don’t,” he said.

“I’d like the Glazers to leave in full, even now with how they’re dealing with the sale process, which means it’s ultimately dragged out.

“They can’t make a decision and there are other examples of that. They can’t deal with things that are difficult.

“Hopefully we can have a full exit, but with the Ratcliffe bid, it looks like a part exit with two of them staying [Joel and Avram]. I don’t like the idea of that.

“If that bid comes forward and is successful, which is the talk, I’d like to think there’s a fixed exit for the Glazer brothers organised in let’s say, two years, so we know they’re leaving.

“Ratcliffe comes in and brings in another investor to take them out.”

He added: “When the Glazers came into the club, Manchester United had the best team, the best stadium and the best training ground.

“We’re now second-rate in all of those categories and we’re nowhere near it.”
