The Blues in the game were unable to replicate their top form in the whole 90 minutes duration thereby gave a shambolic performance and as such suffered their first defeat against the host of the night in 17 years.

Goals from Willian and Carlos Vinicius made it two goals for the host with the visitor netting their only goal from Kalidou Koulibaly which ended two goals to one at full time.

With the Blues level of delivery against the host of the night, the English tactician Graham Potter could be apportioned the larger percentage of the blame with two tactical mistakes made in terms of his wrong tactical decisions as seen below:

Kai Havertz playing the whole 90 minutes without been taken off

The German international and forward maestro was not impressive at all for the Blues as he made little or no meaningful impacts at the heart of the attacking line, where he wasted some efforts and clear cut chances that could have been converted into goals.

Leaving a player like Kai Havertz on the pitch of play and having a potential standing nine seated on the bench when the team needed him most was kind of weird and ridiculous.

Indecisiveness in terms of making late substitution when the team is down with one man

The tempo of the game got more tensed up when the team new signing and Atletico Madrid loan star, Joao Felix was shown a direct red card in the 58th minute of the game in what was his debut game for the Blues.

As expected, the coach was supposed to make some tactical changes to fix the squad as the game was balanced at 1-1 at that time.

Instead, Graham Potter failed to intervene at this crucial and critical period as it took him 21 minutes after before he could make any substitution and they were already trailing with a goal from behind.
