Prolonged periods also known as menorrhagia, can be an indication of hormonal imbalance or changes in the uterus, which should not be ignored and it is advisable to consult a gynaecologist if you are the type that always experience prolonged period.

Below are some common causes of a prolonged period.

Dysfunctional bleeding: This is also known as abnormal uterine bleeding and it is caused by the hormonal imbalance in the body.
