Former President Obasanjo Disown Wife Shortly After She Asked For Forgiveness From Yoruba People On His Behalf

According to Punch news, Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has distanced himself from a woman named Taiwo Obasanjo, just a day after she publicly asked for forgiveness on his behalf.

Taiwo had pleaded with Yoruba people worldwide to forgive Obasanjo for his statements made in Iseyin, Oyo state, during the inauguration of state projects by Governor Seyi Makinde.

In her plea titled “Oyo Kings: A plea for forgiveness,” Taiwo asked for forgiveness from Yoruba sons and daughters, leaders, and all segments of society. She sought permanent and eternal pardon.

However, Obasanjo has now refuted any connection to Taiwo, claiming that she is neither his wife nor a member of his family, despite having two children with her. He stressed that only he or his delegated representatives can speak on behalf of the Obasanjo family.

Obasanjo’s statement, as relayed by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, asserted his unwavering belief that a governor holds the highest office in a state and should be accorded the due respect as prescribed by the constitution.
