That is all fantastic business, but what about the players who have slipped under the radar? Those who are poised to make a name for themselves but have yet to be mentioned.

The most visible players are not always the most influential. Some people can have a huge impact in a much more subtle way, and they deserve just as much credit as everyone else.

So, let’s take a look at five of the most underappreciated Premier League signings this season.

1. Taiwo Awoniyi (Union Berlin to Nottingham Forest):

Awoniyi, Nottingham Forest’s record signing, possesses all of the characteristics required to succeed in the Premier League. He scored 15 goals in 31 games for Union Berlin, and if he can come close to that total here, he’ll be well worth the money.

In addition to being a clinical finisher with a great physique, his work ethic is exceptional, as evidenced by his 0.95 clearances per game.

2. Bernd Leno (Arsenal to Fulham):

Leno is a brilliant signing for £3 million, with plenty of Premier League experience. The German played more than 100 games for Arsenal and more than 200 for Bayer Leverkusen, so he has plenty of experience.

If you want to stay up, you need a good goalkeeper, and Leno has proven to be one of the best. He will almost certainly win many points for Fulham.

3. Romeo Lavia (Manchester City to Southampton): The tenacious, dynamic midfielder joined Southampton for a hefty fee for someone so young, especially considering he had barely played for Manchester City. That demonstrates the young man’s ability.

A midfield powerhouse capable of dominating in both defensive and offensive areas, the Saints have signed a genuine prospect who has already taken Oriol Romeu’s place.

4. Nick Pope (Burnley to Newcastle United): Although he is not one of Newcastle’s most expensive signings, there is a case to be made that he is their best this summer. For the calibre of club he was at, 48 clean sheets in 145 games for Burnley is an extremely impressive stat.

The Magpies needed a top-tier, proven goalkeeper, and Pope is just that. His shot-stopping ability has been phenomenal for Burnley for several seasons.

5. Marc Roca (Bayern Munich to Leeds United): The Spaniard was a wise signing for Leeds and should be a good replacement for Kalvin Phillips. He is an expert at playing in front of the back four and will fit in perfectly with Jesse Marsch’s style of play.

With such a good passing range, he is frequently involved in his side’s build-up, rarely losing possession. At £10 million, he could be a fantastic signing for the club.
