The odds of either are rather high – the outcome depends on what both partners do individually to make things work.

But what is one supposed to do to make sure their relationship works out? That’s the proverbial question every couple is seeking answers for! And like all things real and existential, when all else fails, you can count on relationship experts to give you the solutions you need.

1. Don’t expect your partner to be your best friend

Unlike what you see in movies and shows, your partner isn’t meant to fulfil multiple roles in your life. They’re meant to be your companion, yes, but not a lot more.

To expect them to be your BFF, your sounding board, the one who doles out advice, solves your problems, etc., is to burden them with unnecessary expectations that they may not be able to live up to.

2. Don’t just say it, do it

It’s one thing to express your love in words, and another to actually exhibit with your actions. A lot of times, especially after a couple has been together for a while, one tends to overlook the importance of gestures both big and small that make a lot of difference in the quality of a relationship.

Which is why, it’s important to remember that saying something isn’t enough, for you need to display it with your actions as well.

3. Be honest about your feelings

Constantly maintaining a strong channel of communication is just as pertinent to the success of a relationship as the love between two people.

4. Prioritise right

Deciding to be in a relationship isn’t enough; prioritising it at all times is even more crucial. No matter what your reason is, it is never good enough to lose focus on what truly matters i.e. the person you are with and the bond you two share.

5. Seek advice, if you need to

No one person has it all figured out, and we could all routinely do with some help. The one thing most don’t do is ask for advice when they’re stuck in a tricky situation in their relationship.

Oftentimes, the best suggestions come from an objective point of view – someone who isn’t a part of that relationship could help guide you in the right direction…CONTINUE READING>>
