5. Javier Zanetti

Zanetti’s tireless performances earned him the nickname “El Tractor,” which he used even at the conclusion of his career. If you saw him dribble, you could think the ball was stuck to his feet; that’s how excellent he was.

He has completed 16 dribbles in a game, which is the most ever and is shared by only Neymar Jr. and Lionel Messi. Zanetti, one of the best defenders on the right side of the field, won numerous awards during his stellar career. He was a five-time Serie A champion, four-time Supercoppa Italiana champion, four-time Coppa Italia champion, and a UEFA Champions League winner.

4. Philipp Lahm

Philipp Lahm was so versatile that he could play at right back, left back, or even in the middle of the field. He was aesthetically appealing on the ball and frequently outsmarted the strikers. He has an impressive collection of trophies from both the club and national levels.

Eight Bundesliga championships, six DFB-Pokals, a UEFA Champions League, and many other honors were bestowed upon the German. In 2014, he won the World Cup with Germany, the most prestigious international honor.

3. Carlos Alberto

One of the best defenders you’ll ever face was Alberto. In the year 2000, he was also selected the best right back of all time. Brazil’s undefeated team featured superstars like Pele, Rivelino, Gerson, Jairzinho, and Tostao, and Carlos Alberto led them as captain. Brazil beat Italy 4-1 in the 1970 World Cup finals thanks to his leadership.

2. Cafu

Cafu was beautiful to watch, and his runs down the right wing created numerous scoring chances. He won repeatedly and has the hardware to prove it. After leading Brazil to the 2002 World Cup victory, Cafu became a soccer legend. In 1994, he also won the World Cup.

He has also played more games for Brazil than any other player in the country’s history, a total of 143. Cafu won two Serie A championships, a UEFA Champions League trophy, two UEFA Super Cups, and the Supercoppa Italiana during his club career.

1. Dani Alves

Dani Alves played a crucial role for FC Barcelona under Pep Guardiola, arguably the greatest team ever assembled. Six La Liga championships, three Champions Leagues, and four Copa del Rey were won under his guidance.

At PSG, he won Ligue 1 twice, and at Juventus, he won Serie A and a domestic cup. While he was unable to lead Brazil to a World Cup victory, he did win two Copa America tournaments and was named the tournament’s most valuable player in 2019.
